Allied Strikes Gold for The Famous Grouse

Allied Glass Containers, the Yorkshire based glass packaging specialist, has recently worked with The Edrington Group to produce a stunning redesign for the packaging of their premium brand, The Famous Grouse Gold Scotch whisky, which is sold in Greece.

This was an exciting project for Allied Glass and The Edrington Group, which required close collaboration between the in-market distributor, The Famous Grouse marketing team and Allied Glass.  This collaboration secured an in-depth market insight on the target consumer, a greater understanding of the ideal design parameter and a detailed view of the current competitor activity that could be applied to the redesign.  This insight identified the need for a highly visible and ergonomically shaped bottle that could be easily recognisable.

With regard to the container's design, this was a challenging bottle, which required the application of the latest 3D-design technology.   As it is heavily embossed, the bottle was designed without a part-line down the front panel, allowing the mould to open during production.  This was essential in order to incorporate the intricate embossing on the front and back panels and also to successfully manufacture the finger grips on each side of the bottle.

The resulting bottle is something that the brand owner and Allied Glass are extremely proud of and since its launch it has had a positive impact on sales in Greece.
